Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: A Test of Your Company's Values

Fairly often, we are asked to "come teach diversity."  We don't always refuse but we don't always just go do it, either.  But every time we are asked to "come teach diversity," we explore the request.  We meet with the managers...sometimes the owners... and we ask why they want us to teach diversity.


We find almost every time we are asked to teach diversity, here's what happened:


  1. Someone did something really bad.. used a culturally insensitive word or sent an inappropriate email.
  2. Somebody, maybe a customer, competitor, regulatory agency, or even the EEOC found out about it and is now wanting you to take action.


We like to turn the discussion to what they would do if they found out about the incident but nobody outside the company knew about it?  People look away.


Using bad words, sending inappropriate jokes or pictures around, making fun of people who speak differently, worship differently, look or love differently are behaviors. Poor behaviors, to be sure, but behaviors nonetheless.  And the behavior of people is a refection of the culture and values of the organization.  


We help organizations and leaders take a hard (and critical) look at themselves.  We help them:


  • Develop an AWARENESS of diversity, equity, and inclusion within their organizations.
  • Build an UNDERSTANDING of how embracing...really embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion can make their organizations better places to work, promote employee engagement, increase revenue and profitability, and contribute to the good of their communities.  And of course, it's the right thing to do.
  • Help owners and managers develop a sound PLAN to build more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming organizations.
  • Assist in putting these plans into ACTION and measure the results.

Valuing Each Other

Valuing Each Other is our action packed workshop which explores the 4 Dimensions of Diversity, helps learners to understand unconscious biases, and asks them to make the 5 Commitments of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.


This class can be delivered as a reminder of the organization's values concerning diversity.  It's a great class for new hires.
